Xenical is an oral prescription medication that helps the body to eliminate unwanted fat. Xenical is able to block up to one-third of the fat in the food you eat.
It is recommended that you take one 120mg capsule orally with liquid, during each main meal that contains fat, or up to an hour after you’ve eaten. Xenical is most effective when taken three times daily with a reduced calorie diet. Each meal should contain no more than 30 percent of its calories from fat. Daily intake of fat, carbohydrates and protein should be evenly divided over three main meals. You may omit your dose of Xenical if you occasionally miss a meal or have one that does not contain fat.
Common side-effects associated with Xenical may include: abdominal discomfort or pain, anxiety, back pain, diarrhea, dizziness, oily discharge, gas with fecal discharge, fatty or oily stools, fecal urgency or incontinence. You should seek immediate medical attention if you experience any SEVERE side effects, such as: severe or persistent stomach pain, or an allergic reaction indicated by rash, hives, itching, difficulty breathing or tightness in the chest swelling of the mouth, lips, face or tongue.
