Migraines Linked with Erectile Dysfunction

Men who suffer from chronic migraine headaches may be at an increased risk of erectile dysfunction.

“Not tonight, dear, I have a headache.” That line, or something akin to it, has long been cited as a pat female excuse for refusing sexual overtures. As it turns out, headache — or more specifically migraine headache — could be an indication that a man is more likely to be diagnosed with erectile dysfunction. And in such cases, the spirit might be willing but the flesh is weak.

A handful of studies have pointed to an association between migraines and an increased risk of ED. One of the most recent was a large-scale study in Taiwan that compared the incidence of ED in 5,015 patients with a history of migraine to that of a group of 20,060 controls with no recent history of migraine.

Taiwan Study’s Findings Detailed

The Taiwanese study, published in the March 2016 issue of “Medicine,” found that men with a history of migraine were far more likely to suffer from impotence (23.3 per 10,000 person-years) than those in the control group (10.5 per 10,000 person-years). The incidence of ED was even greater in men who suffered from anxiety as well as chronic migraine.

If you suffer from migraines and are beginning to experience symptoms of ED, ask your doctor if he can recommend an effective migraine treatment with no adverse effects on erectile function. One such medication is said to be verapamil, a calcium channel blocker that has no real effects on libido or sexual performance but can decrease sperm motility, a concern for those couples seeking to become pregnant.

If you are suffering from ED, Viagra may be able to help you to overcome your symptoms of impotence. You might enjoy the convenience of ordering Viagra online, so you should check out all the services AccessRx.com has to offer. You can do this by paying a visit to its Erectile Dysfunction page.
