How Does Metrogel Work?

Metrogel works by attacking the bacteria which causes acne to form in the pores of your skin. It works to treat rosacea by reducing inflammation and killing the bacteria which causes lesions to surface; it may take several weeks for Metrogel to work effectively for you.

How to take Metrogel?

Only take this drug exactly as directed to by a doctor or a pharmacist. Make sure you thoroughly clean the area that you intend to apply Metrogel to. Most commonly, it will be directed to be applied twice per day, once in the morning and once in the evening, to the affected area.

What is Rosacea?

Rosacea is a skin disease that is most commonly found in adults and affects several areas on the face which are prone to blushing. It is caused by blood vessels in the area dilating and rising to surface, appearing as thin, red lines on the face. In many cases these inflammations can also be acne prone.

Acne Rosacea Treatment:

Typically, your doctor will prescribe a topical antibacterial cream or gel, applied daily for a set period of time, or until the symptoms dissipate. If left untreated, the disease may eventually progress to inflammatory rosacea, with small red, pus-filled bumps that resemble pimples. There are not many side effects that have occurred when using this product; however there are some minor side effects which can occur. If you experience any of these make sure to tell to your doctor about them.

Metrogel Precautions:

Always make sure that you tell your doctor about ALL of the drugs that you are currently taking, most importantly any other topical gels, creams, lotions or ointments, and any other topical acne treatments to avoid any interactions from occurring. Women who are breastfeeding should first talk to their doctor about this before using this medication.
