An Unfortunate Use For Viagra – Co-Ed Struck With Meningitis

February 8, 2009

Earlier today I came upon one of the most disheartening Viagra articles I have read to this point.

Most Viagra stories are positive ones. And I read a lot of them. Most people simply don’t have Google Alerts for “Erectile Dysfunction” and “Viagra,” so they are not bombarded with stories about these subjects.

As I was scanning today’s entries, I saw a story from ABC News about a 20-year-old co-ed from the University of Texas who somehow contracted meningitis. Not only that, this is one of the nastiest strains she could have caught. She now faces surgery tomorrow to amputate her feet and most of her fingers.

I’m not one to take things for granted to begin with, but these kinds of stories probably make ED seem like a walk in the park. Hopefully the Viagra that Jamie Shanbaum is being given provides her some level of relief and helps her to move forward in a positive way as she continues on with this battle.

One word of advice that resonates from this story: a meningitis shot is readily available, and all high school and college students would be wise to get one. You may want to pass that message along.
