Phony pharmaceuticals are becoming more and more rampant, even as world health organizations become more and more aware of their sometimes tragic effects.
Although experts surmise that less than one percent of pharmaceuticals dispensed within the United States are counterfeits, this is not the case in foreign countries. Oversight of the drug industries in many countries in Asia - particularly China – and also in India means that many of these counterfeit medications ultimately end up on the internet.
Although AccessRx.com is U.S.-based and its U.S.-licensed doctors and pharmacists prescribe only FDA-approved medications, including ED drugs such as Viagra, many websites are not as trustworthy.
CNN this week took an inside look at the growing problem of counterfeit drugs in the U.S. and worldwide.
